Calls to Radio Ergo’s nationwide audience feedback platform this week (18-24 September 2025) raised concerns over recent river flooding in Jowhar district in Middle Shabelle region, with damage done to farms and houses. However, the largest number of calls concerned continuing drought and its impact on people and their livestock. Most of these calls came from northern regions such as Sanag, where people said livestock were dying due to lack of fodder; from central regions, where people said they couldn’t sell their weak animals; and from other southern regions including Hiran, Bay, Middle and Lower Shabelle and Gedo. Some other callers noted rainfall from scattered locations around the country. Conflict and its impact in different parts of the country also raised concerns among callers.
