(ERGO) – Among the feedback shared on Radio Ergo’s call-in platform this week (31 July to 6 August 2025) were a number of distress calls from people, notably in northern and central parts, asking for urgent help to cope with extreme drought, lack of water, and food shortages. Almost half this week’s callers were female, which is unusual. Some female callers expressed concern about conflict in various regions causing loss of property and displacement and adding to general hardship. Livestock callers were concerned by flu-like diseases and diarrhoea among their goats. As in previous recent weeks, farmers in some areas especially in the south said they had benefited from the rain and harvests were going well.
