(ERGO) – Calls to Radio Ergo’s independent nationwide audience feedback platform in the first week of October (1-7 October 2026) confirmed that listeners in many parts of the country started receiving the deyr rains. These included parts of Somaliland, Hirshabelle, Bay region, and some districts of Jubaland. Some described the rain as heavy or continuous. At the same time, many noted continuing drought and/or intensely hot and dry conditions, especially across central regions, Sanag in the north, a few in Bay region earlier in the week, and many in Gedo region’s Dollow district. Several callers around the country noted their concerns over El Nino and the risks of flooding and were keen to get as much information as possible. One caller in Adale, Middle Shabelle, said heavy rainfall had caused flooding and they needed help.
