In this week’s batch of calls to Radio Ergo’s nationwide audience feedback platform (13-19 August 2026) there were two to three times as many distress calls about drought and its varied impacts on lives and livelihoods, than positive calls about rainfall and general wellbeing. Central Somalia predominated in terms of the sources of calls about drought related conditions, with some also from northern and southern parts. Quite a few spoke of rainfall and good harvests or farming prospects in some southern regions especially. There were complaints about lack of assistance from Gedo, as well as Abudwak and Togdher. Livestock herders shared reports of diseases affecting their herds, including glandular disease affecting goats and another condition killing goats and cows in southern regions.
