There was a resurgence of concern over COVID19 in this week’s messages (22-28 July 2020). People in different regions mentioned seeing sick people in their areas, asked for information about the virus, and expressed fears over its spread in remote places. This is at odds with falling reported numbers of COVID19 cases. However, the biggest number of calls was about the destruction of farms and pasture by locusts. Damage caused by river floods, worries about food security, and water scarcity were other concerns shared by the callers.
The feedback platform is open for listeners to call in on the topic of their choice. We listen to and transcribe the messages received and compile weekly reports, as a way of sharing these local voices among a wider community, including national and international decision-makers and responders.
