Ali Nur Abukar, a humanitarian worker in the district, said the food stores had already been emptied after more than four months of an Al-Shabaab blockade on the town.
The Al-Shabaab group lost control of the district to Somali and AMISOM troops in March and then blocked all the roads leading to the town, effectively cutting it off from supplies. Trucks bringing food or other good have been refused access.
A similar blockade has also been imposed on Wajid and Hudur districts in Bakool, and Burdubo in Gedol.
Abukar said about 50 sacks of food aid were flown into the town last week, but the food was not enough to feed the hundreds of people now at risk of starvation.
