The biggest number of calls to Radio Ergo’s independent platform this week (14-19 August 2020) were on the topic of invasions of locusts affecting farming and pastoralists communities across Somaliland, Puntland, central Somalia, and some southern regions such as Gedo. Other main issues of concern expressed by callers were the effects of further flooding especially in Hiran and Middle Shabelle; questions around symptoms and protection against Coronavirus; and water shortages in some areas.
The feedback platform is open for listeners to call in on the topic of their choice. We listen to and transcribe the messages received and compile weekly reports, as a way of sharing these local voices among a wider community, including national and international decision-makers and responders.
