(ERGO) – Double the number of Radio Ergo feedback callers this week (13-19 November 2025) complained about drought compared to the number of those mentioning rainfall in their areas. The drought callers came from northern central, and southern regions. Some in Hirshabelle locations talked about intense heat as well. Smaller numbers spoke of rainfall in Galgadud, Hirshabelle, and Gedo regions, with apparent variation in the rain’s intensity. Food security was high among the overall concerns manifested in the calls as a whole. Livestock herders reported diseases including CCPP, cowpox, botulism, measles, parasites, lack of weight and general poor condition of animals. Health concerns raised by callers included cholera, malaria, malnutrition, and mental health issues. More than half the callers were females, which shows an unusually strong engagement by women.
