The callers to Radio Ergo’s independent platform this week (6-11 February 2021) were mostly preoccupied by growing pressures on livelihoods from locusts and water shortages. Drought was mentioned by many callers. Some cited multiple problems such as loss of farms and grazing to locusts, lack of water and food, disease and deaths of livestock, as well as conflict in some areas. There were more calls for intervention by authorities and humanitarian aid than in previous weeks.
The feedback platform is open for listeners to call in on the topic of their choice. We listen to and transcribe the messages received and compile weekly reports, as a way of sharing these local voices among a wider community, including national and international decision-makers and responders.
