Once again the most common theme among callers to Radio Ergo’s independent feedback platform this week (21-27 January 2021) concerned the devastating
impact on lives and livelihoods of locust attacks on farms and grazing areas across Somalia. Other major concerns were growing water shortages and drought-like
conditions in some areas, and lack of fodder for livestock. More callers asked for humanitarian assistance. The rejection of the shilling affecting the poor
continued to be a concern in Puntland. A number of callers from various regions asked questions about symptoms and prevention of COVID19.
The feedback platform is open for listeners to call in on the topic of their choice. We listen to and transcribe the messages received and compile weekly reports, as a way of sharing these local voices among a wider community, including national and international decision-makers and responders.
