The largest number of calls to the Radio Ergo platform this week (30 December 2020 to 6 January 2021) was about locusts, as has been the case for the past few months. There was a rise in the number of callers reporting water shortages, some in combination with food shortages and losses caused by locusts. Another main issue raised by callers was the Somali shilling currency crisis and the impact on the poor. There were also a number of calls with questions to the Radio Doctor about Coronavirus symptoms and prevention.
The feedback platform is open for listeners to call in on the topic of their choice. We listen to and transcribe the messages received and compile weekly reports, as a way of sharing these local voices among a wider community, including national and international decision-makers and responders.
