Radio Ergo audience feedback report 3-9 Sept 2026

(ERGO) – This week (3-9 September 2026), a number of callers to Radio Ergo’s independent, nationwide audience feedback platform noted beneficial rainfall, particularly in Jubaland (notably in Kismayo) and Shabelle areas, some in South West, and a few in scattered central areas. However, reports of drought and harsh related impacts on livelihoods dominated the week’s feedback, with most callers on these themes coming from Somaliland, Puntland, central, and southern regions – with some notable pockets in Lower Shabelle and Gedo regions. Some farmers in riverine areas mentioned having good harvests, whilst others close to the Shabelle and Juba rivers expressed high concerns over flooding or potential risks. Conflict in various parts of the country was high on people’s agendas, as were mental health concerns. Livestock callers had questions for veterinary experts about goat and camel diseases. Audiences also showed concerns over environmental issues such as deforestation and the wanton dumping of plastic and other waste affecting people and livestock.

Radio Ergo audience feedback analysis 13-19 August 2026

In this week’s batch of calls to Radio Ergo’s nationwide audience feedback platform (13-19 August 2026) there were two to three times as many distress calls about drought and its varied impacts on lives and livelihoods, than positive calls about rainfall and general wellbeing. Central Somalia predominated in terms of the sources of calls about drought related conditions, with some also from northern and southern parts. Quite a few spoke of rainfall and good harvests or farming prospects in some southern regions especially. There were complaints about lack of assistance from Gedo, as well as Abudwak and Togdher. Livestock herders shared reports of diseases affecting their herds, including glandular disease affecting goats and another condition killing goats and cows in southern regions.

Radio Ergo audience feedback report 06 -12 Aug 2026

Among the calls to Radio Ergo’s independent audience feedback platform in the week 6-12 August 2026, many people reported the worsening effects of continued drought with livestock losses, food and water shortages, and livestock diseases. The majority of these calls came from central parts of the country. Other callers in scattered locations in southern regions spoke of rainfall and beneficial conditions for farmers and herders. Lack of jobs and high prices concerned several callers. There was also considerable interest shown in the climatic variations, with some callers asking for more information on weather forecasts and flood risks.

Radio Ergo audience feedback report 30 July – 5 Aug 2026

The calls recorded on Radio Ergo’s nationwide audience feedback platform in the week 30 July to 5 August 2026 give a glimpse into the differing fortunes of various livelihood groups across different regions of the country. For example, there were reports of good farm harvests from some southern locations alongside complaints of water shortage, food insecurity and general hardship. Rainfall was cited by callers mainly from southern regions, whilst a few spoke of localised river floods, and others mentioned continuing drought and livestock losses. Most calls about drought and its impact came from northern and central parts. Many callers in northern areas said they only had access currently to salty or brackish water. Central region callers noted the seasonal windy conditions and their hopes for the next rainy season.

Radio Ergo audience feedback report 9-15 July 2026

The calls to Radio Ergo’s audience feedback platform in the week 9-15 July 2026 presented another mixed picture, similar to our recent reports, in terms of patterns of rainfall and drought and the impacts on people’s living conditions in different parts of the country. Many in southern regions spoke about rainfall and promising crop growth and harvests, whilst others particularly in central parts of the country complained of continuing drought and hardships. In some regions or districts, different callers gave differing descriptions of the livelihood conditions they were facing, indicating rain in some places and drought in others. There were numerous calls to the radio about livestock diseases especially affecting goats.

Radio Ergo audience feedback report 2-9 July 2026

The calls to Radio Ergo’s independent nationwide audience feedback platform in the week 2-9 July 2026 were dominated in terms of numbers by people from Hirshabelle, South West, and Jubbaland states citing good rainfall and livelihood recovery. The next most popular topic was livestock disease, with callers from the same states as well as a few from central and further north describing conditions affecting goats and camels. In addition, callers mainly from parts of Puntland and central locations complained of continued or a return to dire drought conditions. On the other hand, some farmers in parts of Hirshabelle spoke of healthy crops and even bumper harvests. The first reports on the Ergo platform this year of locust invasions came from Galgadud and Hiran.

Radio Ergo audience feedback report 25 June to 1 July 2026

Many callers to Radio Ergo’s audience feedback platform in the last week of June wanted to engage with the radio’s farming and livestock experts, to overcome challenges in controlling crop pests or diseases and to access advice and treatment for livestock diseases. The largest number of calls came from people citing beneficial rainfall, some of it heavy, mostly in central and southern regions. Two callers from Hiran and Lower Juba described healthy crops ready for harvest. At the same time, a smaller number of people called about the severe impact of drought that continued to kill livestock and had left them destitute. These callers were mainly from central locations with a couple from the north. Other topics of interest for callers in this period were mental health challenges, and malnutrition.

The majority of calls to Radio Ergo’s nationwide audience feedback platform in the week 18-24 June 2026 were from callers announcing good rainfall and the beneficial impact on their livelihoods, as well as their hopes for recovery. These calls came mostly from central and southern regions, with a notable numbers of calls from Galmudug, Hiran, and Bay. At the same time, a smaller number of callers spoke of drought and the severe effects on livestock and crops. Notable locations of such callers were Galgadud, in particular Abudwak and Guriel, and parts of Lower Shabelle and Gedo. Other callers noted disease outbreaks including chikungunya in Bardera, Gedo. IDPs in camps in Dollow complained of severe food shortages and bad conditions. Many callers asked about malnutrition with some reporting diversion of nutritional supplements.

The calls to Radio Ergo’s nationwide audience feedback platform in the week 4-10 June 2026 indicated a continuing mixed picture of rainfall in some areas with drought and water shortage in others. Many callers pointed out the uneven pattern of the rain. Whilst more callers spoke of rainfall and their optimism for recovery, this week recorded an increase in others citing the stresses caused by drought, including loss of livestock and failing crops.
