The calls to Radio Ergo’s nationwide audience feedback platform in the week 4-10 June 2026 indicated a continuing mixed picture of rainfall in some areas with drought and water shortage in others. Many callers pointed out the uneven pattern of the rain. Whilst more callers spoke of rainfall and their optimism for recovery, this week recorded an increase in others citing the stresses caused by drought, including loss of livestock and failing crops.

This report analyses the calls from listeners across the country to Radio Ergo’s audience feedback platform in the period 28 May to 3 June 2026. The topic with the biggest numbers of callers this week was rainfall and the impact on lives and livelihoods. Calls about rain came from several regions in Somaliland, as well as from parts of Galmudug and Hiran, and many parts of the south notably Middle Shabelle, Gedo, and Lower Juba. Many callers noted replenishment of resources and recovery of livestock and farms. However, some in central and southern areas said the rains had been short-lived and inadequate, with many noting the scattered nature of the rainfall leaving some areas still dry. A few callers raised concerns about the lack of access to nutritional supplements due to the diversion of aid. Others were concerned by conflict affecting communities, the lack of jobs, and mosquito infestations.

In the calls this week (14-20 May 2026) to Radio Ergo’s nationwide audience feedback platform, listeners continued to report rainfall in various parts of the country and to describe improvements to livelihood conditions. The calls about rainfall came mainly from central regions, notably Galgadud and Hiran, as well as southern regions notably Middle Shabelle and Gedo. There were just a few calls about rain from northern areas. Several callers from northern, central and some southern parts spoke about continuing impact of drought or a return to dry conditions after sporadic rain. A number of callers talked about livestock and crop losses, difficulty in recovering, unemployment and food insecurity. Livestock herders spoke about goat and camel diseases affecting their herds. There were several complaints about aid delivery.

The majority of calls to Radio Ergo’s nationwide audience feedback platform this week (7-13 May 2026) were about rainfall, with most of these callers saying the rain was bringing hope and indications of recovery. However, a notable number also indicated that recovery was more challenging due to livelihood losses and that livestock were continuing to die. From this week’s batch of calls, rainfall seemed most prevalent in southern and central regions. Some noted that the rain was inconsistent, light, or scattered in their areas. Several callers in Hirshabelle areas spoke of river flooding or flood risks and the need for assistance. Conflict was a concern for several callers in Sool and Sanag regions. The rejection of the Somali shilling notes also continued to cause concern for callers in southern regions.

(ERGO) – Radio Ergo’s audience feedback platform in the week 30 April – 6 May 2026 captured a large number of calls from across the country about rainfall that people mostly said was helping to replenish resources. At the same time, some callers said the rainfall had caused damage, with two flooding reports from Shabelle river areas. Some others said the rain was insufficient or scattered, or couldn’t get them back on their feet due to the livelihood losses and asset depletion they had already sustained. Those reporting drought conditions came from Togdher and central areas. Overall, there were indications of recovery in some parts alongside extreme prevailing hardship in other parts.

There were more calls about rainfall than about drought in the audience feedback captured on Radio Ergo’s independent nationwide call-in platform in the week 23-29 April 2026. Many callers said that water resources had been replenished, temperatures dropped, and welcome signs of recovery had returned. However, there were indications that rain though heavy in some southern parts was not evenly spread and may not have been adequate in some areas. The callers noting drought and continuing harsh impacts on people and their livelihoods were mainly from northern and central parts.

Callers in some locations noted that the rainfall was less than expected or inconsistent. Farmers in several southern regions complained of crop failure and loss of livestock due to the drought. Drought calls from Lower Shabelle region this week were prominent. Two callers in Beletweyne, however, reported the sudden rise in river water levels despite the lack of rainfall. On other topics, several callers complained about the rejection of the Somali shilling by traders in favour of mobile money payments. Females accounted for about one third of the callers, speaking on topics including drought and rainfall, floods, health and mental health, livestock, IDPs, and one mother in Dollow reporting her young son as a missing person.

(ERGO) – Callers to Radio Ergo’s independent audience feedback platform this week (2-8 April 2026) presented an overall mixed picture with regard to weather patterns across the country. A number of callers across parts of Somaliland, parts of Galgadud region, and a few southern areas spoke about rainfall, sometimes heavy and sometimes more sporadic, that raised their hopes of recovery.

At the same time, a bigger number of callers spoke about continuing drought causing food and water shortages, livestock losses, and general hardship for communities. These calls came from parts of Somaliland, many locations across Galgadud, Hiran region, and a few from Bay and the Shabelles.

Farmers from parts of Galgadud complained of lack of water and challenges in irrigating crops adequately. Others including in Middle Shabelle were plagued by crop pests. Livestock callers described diseases affecting goats, camels, cows, and sheep.

Female callers this week spoke mostly about rainfall or the persistence of drought and its impact on their lives. They also spoke about nutrition, livestock diseases, conflict, and the need for aid.

(ERGO) – The calls to Radio Ergo’s independent audience feedback platform this week (26 March to 4 April 2026) show a mixed picture across the country in terms of weather conditions and their impact on people’s lives and livelihoods. Callers noted rainfall in many regions, notably Sanag, Puntland, some central areas, and southern regions including Gedo. Some of these callers noted that they now enjoyed replenished water sources, although others indicated only sporadic and scattered rainfall. At the same time, the platform received a far larger number of callers saying they were still afflicted by severe drought conditions, with livestock losses and food shortages, and that rainfall had not arrived in their areas. Whilst an overall pattern would be hard to discern, these callers came largely from Mudug and Galgadud, as well as from Hiran, Middle Shabelle, and Bay and Bakool. However, there were many callers to the weekly farming programme, indicating that farmers were planting. Livestock diseases remained a concern to pastoralists calling the radio vet experts. Two callers living near rivers wanted help in averting floods. The topic of nutrition was popular week among women callers, and the mental health programme also resonated with audiences, judging from the feedback.
